Tasks
Tasks turn accessibility findings into actionable work items that stay in sync with the tools your team already uses. Create a task from one or more violations, and navable keeps it connected to apps like GitHub, Jira, and Notion so progress is tracked in both places.
Before you start
To create tasks, connect at least one app under Settings → App Integrations. See App Integrations for the connection steps.
If no app is connected, the task dialog shows a reminder to connect an integration in settings first.
Creating tasks
You create tasks directly from your audit findings on the Audit Results page.
From a single page
- Open a URL's detailed audit result.
- Click Create task.
- Select the accessibility issues to include — they're grouped by browser profile.
- Choose the Integration (the connected app) and review the title and description.
- Click Create task.
Only one task can be created per page and device profile. If a page already has a task, navable shows Task created and links you to the existing task instead of making a duplicate.
From multiple findings at once
- On a results page, use the selection checkboxes to pick several issues.
- A bar appears at the bottom showing how many issues are selected.
- Click Create task to bundle them into a single task.
Issues that already belong to an active task are skipped automatically, and navable tells you how many were included.
The Tasks page
Open Tasks from the sidebar to see everything you've created. Each task shows its title, status, linked accessibility findings, and a link to open it in the connected app.
Two-way sync
Tasks stay connected to the app they were created in:
- Sync to app — send your changes (title, description, assignee, status) to the connected app.
- Sync from app — pull the latest changes back from the connected app.
Changes made in a connected app — such as status or assignee updates — sync in the background and appear after a short delay. To update a task immediately, use Sync from app.
Task status
Each task shows one of the following:
- Awaiting sync — the task was created and is being sent to the connected app.
- Synced — the task is up to date in both navable and the connected app.
- Sync failed — the last sync didn't go through. Use Sync to app to try again.
- Sync conflict — the task changed in both places. See Resolving conflicts below.
- Closed — the task has been closed.
Resolving conflicts
If a task is edited in both navable and the connected app, it enters a Sync conflict state and shows a banner. Choose how to resolve it:
- Sync from app — keep the changes made in the connected app.
- Sync to app — keep your changes and overwrite the connected app.
When you edit a conflicted task, navable asks you to confirm before overwriting the external changes.
Managing tasks
Open the actions menu on any task to:
- Edit — update the title, description, or assignee. Changes sync to the connected app.
- Close / Reopen — mark the task as done or active again.
- Archive / Restore — hide finished tasks from the main list. Archived tasks appear under the Archived section and can be restored at any time.
- Detach finding — remove an individual accessibility finding from the task.
