AI Suggested Interaction Steps
navable can suggest the most important interaction steps to audit on a page — entirely on its own. Instead of describing a goal yourself, let the AI inspect the page, identify the interactions worth auditing (such as dismissing a cookie banner or opening a navigation menu), and prepare a ready-to-use goal for each one.
Each suggestion becomes a candidate page state. You review the suggestions, adjust them if needed, and decide which ones to keep.
How It Works
- Open the interaction step configuration for a URL (click Set up in the Accessibility Overview).
- In the AI suggested interaction steps section, click Suggest interaction steps.
- The AI analyzes the page and proposes a short list of suggestions. Each one
includes:
- A name for the page state.
- A goal describing the state to reach.
- A short rationale explaining why the interaction is worth auditing.
- Review each suggestion. You can edit the name and goal before accepting.
- Click Discover & verify to keep a suggestion, or Reject to discard it. Use Discover & verify all to keep every suggestion at once.
When you accept a suggestion, navable runs AI Step Discovery for that goal and verifies the steps work, just as if you had described the goal yourself.
Suggesting Steps for Many URLs at Once
You can request suggestions for several pages in one go from the URL table:
- Select the URLs you want in the Accessibility Overview.
- Choose Suggest interaction steps with AI from the bulk actions.
- In the dialog, pick the browser profiles to run against and the Max suggestions per URL.
- Click Start suggestions.
navable then prepares suggestions for each selected URL in the background. Open any URL's Set up view to review and accept them.
Reviewing Before Applying
By default, you stay in control. Accepted suggestions run discovery and verification in the background and appear under Verified suggested steps. Once a suggestion has been verified, click Apply to save it as a page state.
If a suggestion fails verification, click Re-verify to try again. You can expand a verified suggestion to see its goal and Verification screenshots.
Auto-Apply
If you prefer, turn on Auto-apply verified. With auto-apply enabled, navable automatically saves any suggestion whose steps are successfully verified — no manual step required.
:::warning Auto-apply saves verified steps without a final review. Only steps that pass verification are applied; steps that fail verification are left for you to review. You'll be asked to confirm before auto-apply is enabled. :::
Page State Limits
Each browser profile has a limit on the number of page states. Suggestions and auto-apply respect this limit:
- navable only counts suggestions that have been applied (saved as page states).
- When a profile reaches its limit, you can't accept more suggestions until you remove an existing interaction step.
When to Use Suggested Steps
Suggestions are useful when:
- You're not sure which interactions on a page need auditing.
- You're setting up many URLs and want navable to propose a starting point.
- You want consistent coverage of common patterns like cookie banners, menus, and dialogs.
Prerequisites
- Store any required login credentials as secrets in Settings → Audit Settings before suggesting steps for pages behind a login. See Secrets.
- Ensure the target URL is publicly accessible.
